World No Tobacco Day 2025

Published on 31 May 2025

World No Tobacco Day, observed every May 31st, was established by WHO to raise awareness of tobacco's dangers and promote stronger control policies. The 2025 theme, "Bright products. Dark intentions. Unmasking the Appeal," highlights how the tobacco industry targets youth through appealing product designs. Tobacco, consumed by smoking, chewing, or snuffing, is harmful in all forms and contains toxic and addictive substances that damage health. Globally, tobacco causes over 8 million deaths annually, including 1.3 million from second-hand smoke; in Indonesia alone, around 268,600 people die each year due to tobacco-related diseases, with about 52,000 from passive exposure.

It’s time to say no to tobacco! Protect your health, care for your loved ones, and support a cleaner, healthier environment. Every breath without tobacco is a step toward a better future.
