World Cancer Day, observed every February 4, aims to raise awareness about cancer, promote prevention, early detection, and treatment, and encourage global action to reduce its impact. Established by the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) in 2000, it is recognized worldwide. UICC is the largest and oldest organization dedicated to cancer control, working to reduce the global cancer burden, promote equity, and keep cancer control a priority in global health. Cancer is a disease of uncontrolled cell growth that can spread to other parts of the body. Primary prevention focuses on reducing the risk of cancer by avoiding known risk factors and promoting healthy behaviors and environmental changes.
