Today on September 29th, 2022 we celebrate the World Heart Day. This day is celebrated to promote awareness about cardiovascular disease (CVD) which is the leading cause of death in the world until today. About 17.9 million people died from CVDs in 2019 and this problem represent 32% of all global deaths. 85% among these deaths were due to heart attack and stroke. It is very important to detect CVD as early as possible so that management with counselling and medicines can begin. The celebration this year carries the theme 'Use Heart for Every Heart' which is a reminder for all of us to use heart to think differently, to engage with this important cause, to help others by raising the awareness of cardiovascular diseases, and to promote health.
The theme 'Use Heart for Heart' in this year celebration is an opportunity for everyone to take a break and start to consider how best to use our heart for humanity, for the nature and for ourselves which are the three pillars that support the theme this year. These days, access to treatment and support for CVD often becomes one of the issues that leads more than 75% CVD deaths in low-to middle-income countries. Every year, air pollution is responsible for 25% CVD death by taking the lives of 7 million people. Not only that, we should know that psychological stress can double the risk of having a heart attack. With our involvement with global event such as World Heart Day, we are empowered to raise awareness and help make a difference for all human beings as we put our heart for humanity, for the nature, and for our own life because every beating heart matters.
