On Saturday and Sunday, March 5th-6th 2022, AMSA-Unhas held a charity event called Catalyze Children’s Health and Literacy (Candy) at one of the orphanage in Makassar, Ummu Aiman Orphanage. Like the event’s name, this activity is held annually by AMSA-Unhas with the aim of sharing information with children about how to do a healthy lifestyle such as how to wash our hand properly, choosing healthy foods, and the importance of literacy. The theme for this activity is "Tell Me About Your Health".
On the first day, the activity started at 13.00 WITA and opened with a fun ice breaking game to increase the enthusiasm of the children at the Ummu Aiman Orphanage. After that, the participants then received PHBS (Clean and Healthy Living Behavior) class presented by dr. Raissa Alfathir Heri, Sp.N., and a class about the importance of nutrition presented by dr. Iin Fadhilah, S.Ked. In the middle of the class, there were several games that were carried out so that the participants did not get bored during the event. In the series of events on the first day there was also Story Telling with the title "Jaka Tarub" and the presentation of PHBS posters. The activities on the first day were then closed by giving a brief explanation about the next day’s activities.
On the second day, the activities started in the morning, around 09.00 WITA. To increase the enthusiasm of the participants in the morning, "Singing with PHBS" became the first event to be held. In addition, participants took part in two FGDs (Focus Group Discussions), namely on PHBS and Literacy to better understand how to maintain clean and healthy living behavior in daily life and the importance of literacy. On this day, there was also a Food Exhibition for the participants to better understand the kinds of foods that are nutritious and good for health. The activity on the second day was then ended with a donation given to the Ummu Aiman Orphanage and an award for the best participants for this year's Candy event.
We gratefully thank the speakers, dr. Raissa Alfathir Heri, Sp.N and dr. Iin Fadhilah, S.Ked. who participated as the speakers for this year’s Candy. In addition, we also thank the Ummu Aiman Orphanage for their enthusiasm and willingness to be a part of the of this charity activity.
We also proudly thank all the committees who have worked hard to make this event a success. Hopefully, Candy can be a place to learn and earn good memories for all participants involved.
